Hectic Day
As I expected, the Second Day of the year was more hectic at the airport.The earlier part of the day is still normal, except for 839D which was delayed since yesterday. I didn't realise that my deployment clashed so I was real late reporting to the gate but luckily the other staff at the gate could cope with all the angry passengers who was stucked at the airport since yesterday.
The flight couldn't take off as the captain couldn't get the clearance from Medan so there were some delays and when the clearance finally came, the apron didn't have the ground start unit to power up the aircraft.
We were all so worried that the slot for our flight to take off will be cancelled as the Medan airport is real strict about as there were too many traffic going in, especially with all the relief aids. To make matter worse, it was raining real heavy but the flight finally pushed off.
It became chaotic for me when evening sets in. I was doing 153 when Central called me to go over to 831 as there is no staff there. Had half an hour of free time while waiting for 8332 and the flight was quite smooth except for the catering that came real late. Before the aircraft door close, Central called for me to jump over to 841 which was delayed.
841 turned around quite fast and although I had half an hour free but still cannot afford the time to have a proper meal so bought some snacks from the evnding machines.
When I reached the 859 gate, all staff bought snacks as no one had time to eat! We also understand that there is a real shortage of staff as there were too many extra flights and being a Sunday after a public holiday, there wre too manay no shows at work.
When waiting for 859 to push back, Charlie 1 called on the talkie:
C1: Andi! Come in.
Andi: Go for Andi.
C1: Delta 38.
Andi: On the way.
So OT till 0030 and glad that Justin and I were in the same cab, as we agreed to have supper at Lorong 5.
